Comcast has expanded its broadband services to two Schuylkill County communities.
Comcast, working in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), has announced the completion of a broadband expansion project that brings reliable, high-speed Internet to more than 1,700 previously unserved homes and businesses across Pennsylvania.
As part of the initiative, new connections are now available in Cass and Reilly Townships, Schuylkill County, as well as rural areas of Centre, Franklin, and Lycoming counties. The expansion provides access to Xfinity’s suite of services, including Internet, mobile, entertainment, and smart home technology.
According to DCED Secretary Rick Siger, the project represents a step forward in closing the digital divide:
“Expanding access to high-speed Internet across unserved communities in Pennsylvania is a vital part of our mission. We’re thrilled to bring more rural Pennsylvanians online for the first time with Xfinity high-speed Internet.”
The expansion was made possible in part by the state’s Unserved High-Speed Broadband (UHSB) Funding Program, designed to support broadband deployment in areas that previously lacked access. The program helps extend both middle-mile and last-mile infrastructure to reach residents and businesses in remote locations.
Ricky Frazier Jr., Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Keystone Region, emphasized the importance of connectivity:
“Having high-speed Internet can be truly life-changing. Comcast is proud to bring fast, reliable connectivity on the nation’s largest network to communities that have never been connected before.”
