Thousands of PPL Electric Utilities customers across Schuylkill County are without power Wednesday night as strong winds continue to sweep across the region.
As of 10:15 p.m., PPL reported 4,842 total outages in the county. The largest numbers are concentrated in Wayne Township (1,754 customers) and West Penn Township (1,674 customers), accounting for nearly 70 percent of the countywide total.

Smaller scattered outages reported in Pottsville (20), Porter Township (18), Rush Township (39), Orwigsburg Borough (5), Pine Grove Township (1), South Manheim Township (5), Tamaqua Borough (4), and Butler Township (4).
PPL crews are actively working to assess and restore service, but the company cautions that continued high winds may cause additional outages and delay restoration efforts.
Residents are reminded to stay clear of downed wires, report outages through PPL’s mobile app or website, and avoid using candles or generators indoors due to fire and carbon monoxide risks.
