The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that Darkwater Road near St. Clair, will be closed and detoured beginning at 10:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2025, through 4:00 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2025, as part of the ongoing Route 61 reconstruction project between Frackville and St. Clair.
During this time, motorists will be detoured via Peach Mountain Road and Wade Road. The closure will allow crews to perform necessary construction work at the intersection of Darkwater Road and Route 61.
While Route 61 will remain open, drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and use caution when traveling through the area, as increased traffic and construction activity are expected.
