Thomas B. "Tom" Conway
, 91 of Pottsville died peacefully Tuesday at Schuylkill Center.

He was born October 22, 1934, in Pottsville a son of the late John M. and Agnes J. Miller Conway.

Prior to retiring we was a maintenance man for the former Miners National Bank.

Tom was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, and the former Human Fire Co.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Conway and Joseph J. Conway, Sr.

The family would like to thank the staff of the 2nd Floor West Unit at Schuylkill Center for their care towards Tom.

Surviving are his goddaughter niece and caregiver, Kathy Brennan, Pottsville, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. John No. 2 Cemetery.

Cremations arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home.

Theresa A. Steininger, 85 of Pottsville died peacefully Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East.

She was born July 17, 1940, in Pottsville a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Horican Florida.

She was a 1959 Graduate of Nativity BVM High School.

Prior to retiring she was employed by Van Heusen,

Theresa was a member St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John, James and Michael Florida; 3 sisters, Anna Frantz, Carol Florida, and Elizabeth Ely;

Surviving are nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be private at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Interment will be private in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.

Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Arthur ”Skip” Long
passed away in his home surrounded by family on December 2, at the age of 90.

Skip was the son of the late Hanford and Evelyn Boyer Long of Donaldson, PA and the brother of Gerald Long, Sr. and Phyllis Meneeley. He graduated from Tremont High School in 1952 and married Marian Wentz June 1, 1957, who preceded him in death in 2017.


Skip was employed by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (better known as the A&P) for 39 years as manager of various departments and assistant store manager at multiple store locations. He served in the army, as well as the Pine Grove unit of the Army National Guard for 22 years, where he rose to the rank of Platoon Sergeant. After retiring from the A&P and National Guard, he worked as a custodian for Pine Grove Area School District.

Throughout his life, he served on several church councils and committees. Most recently, he was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pine Grove, where he served as an usher, greeter, and coordinator of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Skip was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as the local butcher during deer season for many years. He enjoyed attending high school football games and watching the Eagles, Red Sox, and Phillies on TV. He also enjoyed organizing and cooking meals at Swatara Village where he lived since 2001, as well as attending social events there. In recent years, he enjoyed spending time with friends daily at the Tremont Senior Center. But above all else, he dedicated his time to caring for his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children Kathy Mann, Clay Long, and Penny Vojtasek, as well as grandchildren Melissa Thompson, Thomas Mann, Amanda Long, Tara Slyman, Erin See, and Jade Vojtasek, as well as 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home in Pine Grove.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Skip’s memory to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pine Grove or to Diakon Community Services/Tremont Center, 2020 W. Norwegian St., Pottsville, PA 17901.

Cecelia Herron
, 86, of Hazleton, passed away Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma (Feschuk) Kott, and of the Roman Catholic faith.

Prior to retiring, she was employed at McAdoo Manufacturing for over 25 years.

Cecelia was a member of Jeddo Stars. She loved Bingo, casino trips and found her greatest joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, were her husband, Charles F. Herron Jr; son, Charles J. Herron; brother, John Kott; and son-in-law, James Cooper.

Surviving are her daughters, Linda Hettler and husband, Kenneth of Hazleton; and Mary Cooper of Hazle Twp; son, John Herron and wife, Diana of Florida; daughter-in-law, Denise Herron of Harwood; brother, Joseph Kott of Freeland; grandchildren, Kenny Hettler, Kristina Kishbach, Megan Hettler, Krystle Herron, Cheyenne Payne, Brandon Cooper, Jessica Peloso, Jason Herron, and Justin Herron; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Sophia, Jacob, Karlee, Colter, and Carsen; and nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, December 6. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Good Shepherd Church, Drums. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

A calling hour will be held Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.

The Damiano Funeral Home, McAdoo, is assisting the family.
