Jean M. Maliniak
, 85, of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 21st, at her daughter Debbie’s home, where she had resided for the past year under Debbie’s devoted and attentive care. Jean's family is very grateful for the compassionate care provided by caregiver, Chrissy Livingood, Compassus Hospice including Sarah, Kim and Tammie and LVHN Hospice.

Jean was born in Shamokin on June 22, 1940, a daughter of the late John E. & Mina (Davis) Martz.

Married 64 years, she was the loving wife of Michael A. Maliniak.

Jean was a 1958 graduate of Shamokin High School and also graduated from Harrisburg School of Nursing.

Jean worked as a passionate advocate for Schuylkill County Rape Crisis Center for 18 years.

Her faith was reflected in her active involvement with her church, United Presbyterian Church, Pottsville, where she joyfully gave her time and talents and shared her deep love of God.

In addition to her husband, Jean is also survived by two children: Debra Logothetides, wife of George, Pottsville, & M. John Maliniak, husband of Clare, Newport News, VA, grandchildren: Gregory Maliniak, husband of Amanda, Allison Martin, wife of Trey, Nicholas Maliniak, husband of Lindsey, Michael Logothetides, Jack Logothetides, Mary Logothetides, wife of Mark, & Savas Logothetides, great-grandchildren: Clyde Martin, Reid Martin, Cleo Logothetides, Ty Francis Maliniak, Payton Maliniak, & Madison Maliniak, and sister, Suzanne Kiersnowski, wife of John, Shamokin.

Jean is preceded in death by her sister, Helen Thomas.

At the family’s request, donations in Jean’s memory may be made to United Presbyterian Church, 214 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901 or SARCC, 17 Westwood Centre, Pottsville PA 17901.

Details for Jean’s upcoming Memorial Service will be announced upon completion of arrangements.

Allen Martell, 71, of Minersville, passed away on Wednesday January 14, 2026 at LVHN Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born in Indiana September 23, 1954, he was a son of the late Allen and Carol (Surprise) Martell.

He served as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy in the Vietnam War, earning a degree in engineering.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings.

Surviving are his wife Mary Ann Martell; Stepson Jordan Tregea of Minersville; Step Daughter Jaime Kukuk and her husband Blake of Mt. Carmel; Grandchildren Elise and Blake; Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Funeral Services will be private. Dutcavich Funeral Home & Cremation Care is in charge of arrangements.
