Saks & Company to Close Schuylkill County Distribution Center, WARN Notice Shows 435 Layoffs

Hundreds of workers in Schuylkill County will soon be out of work after employees at the Saks & Company distribution center in the Highridge Industrial Park were notified this week that the facility will be permanently closing.

According to letters sent to employees dated March 3, 2026, the company informed workers that the Pottsville-area distribution center will shut down, with employees’ final days expected to occur between May 2 and May 31, 2026.

A notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act confirms the closure.

The filing lists the employer as Saks & Company, LLC, located at 25 Keystone Boulevard, Pottsville, in Schuylkill County, and indicates that 435 employees will be affected by the shutdown. The WARN notice states layoffs will begin May 3, 2026, and continue through May 31, 2026, as the facility permanently closes.

The closure comes amid financial restructuring at the company’s parent organization. Saks Global, parent company of Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January 2026.

The Schuylkill County closure is part of a broader series of layoffs affecting Saks operations in Pennsylvania. WARN notices posted in February by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry also announced closures at two other facilities:

  • Saks Fifth Avenue, 250 Highland Park Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, where 155 employees are expected to be affected. The layoffs are scheduled to occur between April 11 and April 30, 2026.

  • A facility at 2 Bala Plaza in Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, where 50 employees are expected to be impacted, with the closure effective April 11, 2026.

In total, the three Pennsylvania WARN notices indicate 640 employees could lose their jobs as part of the company’s restructuring.
