Strong winds and heavy rain moving through Schuylkill County late Monday caused scattered power outages affecting several municipalities across the county.
According to outage data reported by PPL Electric Utilities, as of 11:00pm, hundreds of customers were left without electricity as the storm moved through the region.
The largest outage was reported in West Penn Township, where 509 customers were without power. Other areas experiencing outages included:
- Hegins Township – 284 customers
- Wayne Township – 29 customers
- West Brunswick Township – 25 customers
- Washington Township – 8 customers
- Pine Grove Township – 7 customers
- Union Township – 5 customers
- North Manheim Township – 3 customers
- Norwegian Township – 1 customer
The outages began as winds intensified and bands of heavy rain moved across the county Monday evening.
PPL has not yet provided an estimated restoration time for the affected customers.
