State Rep. Dane Watro and Sen. Dave Argall said the funding, provided through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, will support improvements by the Kline Township Municipal Authority (KTMA).
The project includes the second phase of a water main replacement along Hancock Street, replacement of the Tresckow Fire Loop water main, and rehabilitation of the elevated water tank serving Tresckow.
According to Watro, the upgrades will involve replacing aging water mains with larger, non-lead pipes and repainting the existing water tank. He said the improvements are expected to enhance water flow, increase system reliability, and strengthen fire protection capabilities across the service area.
“These renovations will improve hydraulic performance, increase system reliability and enhance fire suppression capabilities for the service area, helping to protect public health and safety without increasing customer rates,” Watro said.
Argall noted the competitive nature of PENNVEST funding and said the investment will benefit both residents and emergency responders.
“I’m grateful this highly competitive funding will improve water service for thousands of homes and our brave first responders,” Argall said. “Projects like this one, while critical to building a healthy and safe community, can be very expensive.”
PENNVEST provides low-interest loans and grants to support water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects across Pennsylvania. The agency’s funding is aimed at addressing public health and environmental concerns while supporting long-term community and economic development.
Work on the KTMA system improvements is expected to move forward following the loan approval.
