The proposed budget totals $42,136,965, an increase of approximately $3.06 million over the district’s current 2025-2026 budget of $39,079,725.
As part of the proposal, the district would establish updated local tax rates for the upcoming fiscal year.
For Schuylkill County properties, the proposed real estate tax rate would increase from 8.9664 mills to 9.29 mills. In Columbia County, the rate would rise from 54.1419 mills to 56.11 mills.
Other district taxes would remain unchanged under the proposal, including the occupational assessment at $218.50, earned income tax at 1%, real estate transfer tax at 1%, and local services tax at $5.
According to Business Manager Robert Amos, the change in the millage rates is connected to Schuylkill County’s reassessment and revised taxing methodology.
The board also reviewed proposed tax collection dates for the upcoming fiscal year. The discount payment period would end August 31, 2026, while the regular face amount period would end October 31, 2026. Installment payments would be due August 31, September 30, and October 31, 2026.
The proposed budget was introduced Wednesday evening, with final adoption expected during the school board’s June meeting.
