Brian Joseph Urban, Esquire, of the law offices of Anthony Urban and current president of the Schuylkill County Bar Association, welcomed those gathered for the ceremony held in the second-floor hallway near the courtrooms where the judges once presided.
Urban explained the tradition of the ceremony as an opportunity to reflect on the careers and lasting contributions of retired judges, ensuring their impact on the county’s judicial system and community will be remembered for years to come.
Honored during the event were former President Judge William E. Baldwin and Judge Charles M. Miller, both of whom recently retired from the bench.
Attorney Edward Brennan, Baldwin’s former law partner, introduced the former president judge before Baldwin addressed the crowd. Attorney Paul Domalakes, a former partner of Miller, introduced Judge Miller prior to his remarks.
Current judges, Schuylkill County commissioners, the county sheriff, row officers, and members of the Schuylkill County Bar Association were among those attending the ceremony.
Both Baldwin and Miller expressed gratitude to court staff, fellow judges, colleagues, friends, and family members for their support throughout their judicial careers.
Judge Baldwin served on the bench for more than three decades, while Judge Miller served for more than 20 years.
Urban congratulated both retired judges and thanked those in attendance for taking part in the special occasion. Following the unveiling, guests were invited to a reception in the Lawyers Lounge to celebrate alongside family members, friends, former coworkers, and members of the bar association.
