Marion Louise Gideon
, 91, of Manheim, passed away Thursday, April 30th, at Pleasantview Retirement community.

Marion was born in South Manheim Township on July 9, 1934, a daughter of the late Stella Mae (Reichert) and Paul Chistian Brown. She was the widow of Donald W. Gideon. She was employed as a Technical Information Assistant for the food & drug administration.

She was a 1952 graduate of Orwigsburg High School. She loved to travel, enjoyed puzzles and was in the quilting group at St. Paul’s.

She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Adamstown, PA.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Rev. Sandra L. Gideon and son, Kenneth Gideon, husband of Kelly; grandchildren Michael (Alyssa), Christian and Rebecca Gideon, Maigan Hoover (Tyler), Stephanie Wheeler, and 4 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Ernest Brown.

Memorials can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church P. O. Box 385 Adamstown, PA 19501

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 on Friday, May 8th at Schuylkill Memorial Park, in the garden of the Apostles section, with Pastor Chris Rothharpt officiating.

Mary Diane Homka
, 99 of Pottsville, PA., passed away on April 28, 2026 at Lehigh Valley Schuylkill East, Pottsville. 

Born in Girardville, PA., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Carmella (Spaniel) Thomas. She was the companion of George Mitchell with whom she resided. Mary was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Frackville. She had worked Dell Petrol and Penn of Deer Lake, PA., as Secretary to Mr. Dell for several years.

She is predeceased by one son, Wilbur Clark; one brother, Daniel Thomas; one sister, Madeline T. Mitchell.; Niece Linda Labenburg. Surviving are three sons, John J. husband of Carol Homka, Jr., Schuylkill Haven, PA, Stephen Homka Companion of Lauren Onorofsky, Frackville, PA, Ronald husband of Linda Clark, Hamburg, PA; 8 Grandchildren, Melissa Lehman, Stacey Moyer, Amy Hasara, Brian Clark, Ronald Clark, Christine Clark, Michelle Clark and Patti Clark.; Several Great Grandchildren: Several Great Great Grandchildren and Gr Gr Gr Grandchildren; Nephews John and Robert Labgenburg. 

 Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mark J Hummel Funeral Home, 48 N Broad Mountain Ave., Frackville. Rev. Guency Isaac Officiating. Relatives and friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown, PA.

Janet L. Billman Muller
, 89, of Pottsville passed away on Thursday while a resident of Providence Place Assisted Living in Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, February 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Evelyn Freeze.

Janet was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

She worked at the former Yuengling Ice Cream Factory as well as Mootz Candy both in Pottsville.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Billman who passed away in 1983 as well as her second husband, Horace Muller who passed in 2008. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Helen Burke and Peggy Dewitt and her brother Howard “Sonny” Freeze.

Janet is survived by her children, Cindy Mahall wife of Greg of Fayettville, Charles Billman, Jr. of Llewellyn, and Robert Billman husband of Karen of Mount Carbon. She is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Post and Karen Cortes, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park. Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven is entrusted with the services. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.grabowskifuneralhomes.com.

Jean Marie Smith
, 79, of Jacksonville, NC, formerly of Phoenixville passed away Monday April 27, 2026 at her home

Born in Pottsville, October 15, 1946, She was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Fedornak) Adamick.

She worked for over 20 years as an office manager for Phoenixville Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Smith Jr.; a Sister Mare Pleva; Brothers Michael Adamick; Jimmy Adamick; Grandchildren Amanda Smith; Corey Cantwell and Kelby Cantwell.

Surviving are son John J. Smith III and his wife Donna of Jacksonville, NC; daughter Deborah Cantwell and her husband Kevin of Orwigsburg; Grandchildren Garrett Smith; Skyler Smith; Nick Cantwell; Sister Anna Mae Winisko; brother Joseph Adamick; Nieces and Nephews

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday May 5, 2026 from Calvary Cemetery Pottsville with Rev. Jeff Zias Officiating. Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, St. Clair, is in charge of arrangements.

AnnMarie Palubinsky
, 84, a resident of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Friday morning, May 1st, 2026, while a guest at the Shenandoah Manor Senior Living Community.

AnnMarie was born in Shenandoah on July 14, 1941, a daughter of the late Albert and Violet (Balchus) Schwalm. She attended school in Shenandoah and then worked in the local garment industry, before retiring from Ateeco, Inc.

AnnMarie enjoyed traveling, visiting many of the United States and enjoyed playing bingo and her weekly casino trips. She was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish in Shenandoah.

The last member of her immediate family, in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 2005; a grandson, Jonathan "Feet" Palubinsky; son-in-law, Salvadore Pellegrino, and by three brothers and two sisters, Sonny Balchus, Edward Applegate, Bill Applegate, Betty Conapitsky and Mary Ellen Quirk.

She is survived by her children, daughters JoAnn Pellegrino, and her significant other, Glenn Toth; Josie, wife of Joseph Shoup and by sons, Joseph Palubinsky and his wife Joanie and Jeff Palubinsky and his wife April, along with many nieces and nephews.

Her grandchildren, Christa Antolick (Thomas), Heather Logozzo (Franco), Joshua Palubinsky and Cody Palubinsky also survive along with three great grandchildren, Gianna Antolick, Alex Logozzo and Lilly Logozzo.

AnnMarie also leaves behind her beloved dog, Mario.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Walukiewicz Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026. A viewing will be held from 9-11 AM prior to the service.

AnnMarie will be laid to rest alongside her husband at St. Casimir's Cemetery immediately following the service.
