Gwen Jean Holden
, 71, of Saint Clair, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026 at Lehigh Valley Health Network, Pottsville.

Born in Shenandoah Heights, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Roberts) Kieres.

She was a former member of the Zion Welsh Baptist Church in Mahanoy City. Gwen graduated from Mahanoy Area High School and McCann School of Business and retired from the Schuylkill County Juvenile Probation Department. Gwen served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Hillside SPCA. She was proud of her Welsh heritage, serving on the Board of Directors of the Saint David Society of Schuylkill and Carbon Counties.

On December 4, 1993, Gwen married Tim Holden and they shared a life filled with family, friends, laughter, travel and lasting memories, including the companionship of her many beloved cats throughout the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth (Sissy) Antalosky and brothers-in-law Russ Antalosky, William Coombe and Joseph Holden.

Gwen is survived by her husband Timothy Holden, her sister Donna Coombe, brother Albert Kieres (wife Peggy), sister-in-law Kathleen Kanish, sister-in-law Amelia Holden, brother-in-law John Holden (wife Joan) many special nieces and nephews and lifelong cherished friends.

Gwen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, strength, storytelling with imitations and love for her family and friends will remain in their hearts.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM Monday May 4, 2026 from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church 250 E. Hancock St. Saint Clair, PA 17970. Msgr. William Glosser will be officiating. Friends may call from 6:00-9:00PM Sunday and 9:30-11:00 Monday at the church. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Gwen’s memory to Hillside SPCA, PO Box 233 Pottsville, PA 17901. Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, St. Clair, is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Hilton Yenilaitus, 73, Schuylkill Haven, formerly from Minersville, died on April 27th at her home. She was the daughter of the late Glenn D. and Beatrice (Hanich) Hilton.

She joins her husband of 55 years Leonard J. in Heaven. She is survived by two children, Leonard M., Schuylkill Haven, and Stacy, wife of Matthew Williams, NC, five grandchildren, two brothers: David, Colorado and Michael (Carol Bonchalk), Arizona, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Faye Louise Hilton Cuchara.

Shirley attended Minersville Area schools and graduated from PSU with an associate degree in business administration. She was a software developer for over 30 years, working for local companies and travelling to projects around the country.

Shirley loved learning and sharing knowledge with others. She enjoyed teaching and mentoring software courses, Sunday school classes, Christian youth, and Bible study. Her joy was to serve the Lord and share that joy with everyone.

Her memorial service will be held on May 9th at 2:30 pm at Christ Fellowship Church, 420 Saylor Street, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
