Janice A. (Steigerwalt) Jech
, a devoted mother and doting “Memmy Joe" passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. At 93 years old, she was surrounded by the love of her family in Haines City, Florida, under the tender care of her granddaughter, Erika, and great granddaughter, Jasi.

A lifelong resident of the Andreas and New Ringgold area, Janice was born on November 13, 1932. She dedicated over 42 years of hard work to the wire department at Atlas Powder Co. in Clamtown. Beyond her work, Janice was a faithful member of Ben Salem United Church of Christ and a familiar face at the Andreas Sporting Club. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—whether she was mastering a difficult puzzle, making her seasonal candy and donuts, testing her luck at BINGO night, baking one of her favorite desserts, or tending to her beloved "fur babies.”

The daughter of the late Irvin and Mabel (Hartman) Steigerwalt, Janice was also predeceased by; husband, Joseph J. Jech; precious daughter, Penny Zeigler; siblings, Mae Womer, Phyllis Kobal, Elaine Sowers, Ernest, Hilbert, Curtis, Luther and Bruce Steigerwalt. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Kim Harrower and her husband Glen; son-in-law, Dave Zeigler; grandchildren, Erika Zeigler and her husband Jose Cordero, Brandon Zeigler and his companion Manny Pinho, Rebekka Zeigler and her companion Johnny Sosnowski, Candis Wagner wife of Bryan, Amanda Behler wife of Brian, Tara Strohl wife of Rodney; great grandchildren, Tyler, Sierra wife of Zachary, Justin and his companion Danielle, Aiden, Kaylee fiancé of Caleb, Jaylin (Memmy’s Elvis), Jasi and her companion Ricky; and future great-great grandson, Bryson. Many nieces and nephews also survive Janice.

A funeral service will be at Noon on Thursday April 30, 2026 at Ben Salem Church located at 1965 Church Hill Rd, Lehighton, Pennsylvania 18235. A calling will be held at the church on the morning of services from 10:30 A.M. until the time of worship.

Interment will be in Ben Salem Church Cemetery.

Mary C. Vesci
, age 97, of Mahanoy City, passed away Wednesday night at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community. 

Born in Mahanoy City she was the daughter of the late John and Susan (Hasara) Centek. She was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School and had been employed at Russell Williams Factory in Mahanoy City and last worked for DeTurks Restaurant in Shenandoah. She was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City and sang in the church choir years ago. She was a member of the ILGWU and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union. Mary was very generous with her time and would help anyone anyhow. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2006, brothers George, Andrew, John and Joseph Centek. She is survived by a nephew John Centek of Mahanoy City, a niece Judy Straub and her husband Bruce of Shenandoah, a great niece Danna Straub of Port Carbon, great great nieces Brianna and Starr Mazack of Shenandoah, one great great great niece Blakely and two great great great nephews Hunter and Hayden of Shenandoah, a niece Louise Vesci and her brother Vinnie of Philadelphia and a cousin Dianna and her husband Bruno of Switzerlamd.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher on Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM from St. Teresa of Calcutta Church. Interment will follow at Sky View Memorial Park in Hometown.

Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning beginning at 9:30 AM. David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret J. “Peggy” Frace
, 91, of New Ringgold, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026, at home in the comfort of her loving family. She was the wife of the late George C. Frace, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage up until his passing in 2010.

Peggy was a self-employed cosmetologist for many years. She used her professional talent and volunteered with Look Good Feel Better, a public service program that teaches beauty techniques to people with cancer to help them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.

Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Lamar E. and Helen I. (Fisher) Schaefer. Peggy was a member of Zion’s Stone Church of West Penn Township. She was an animal lover, which included many dogs, cats, birds, and horses. One of her dogs was a therapy dog, which she traveled to nursing homes with and provided comfort care and affection to others. In her spare time, she was a blue-ribbon baker, avid sewer and quilter, and volunteered at many venues including Horses and Horizons Therapeutic Learning Center in New Ringgold.

She was preceded in death by a brother David Schaefer and a sister Judy Schaefer. Surviving are a son, Charles W. and his wife, Beth, of Dillsburg; two daughters, Deborah K., wife of Gary Kunkel, of Walnutport, and Suzanne R., wife of Robert Purvis, of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Linda Logston, of New Bern, NC; six grandchildren: Kristen, Erin, Chuckie, Liz, Colby, and Caitlin; seven great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. Private interment in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Contributions may be made to Horses and Horizons T.L.C., 375 Zions Stone Church Rd., New Ringgold, PA 17960.
