Community members will have an opportunity to help save lives by donating blood during an upcoming blood drive at the Sheppton-Oneida Fire Company.
The blood drive will be held on Thursday, August 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sheppton-Oneida Fire Company, 900 Center Street, Sheppton. Donations will be collected in a climate-controlled coach to provide a comfortable experience for donors.
To encourage participation, organizers will raffle off a $50 gift card to one lucky donor.
Appointments are encouraged to help reduce wait times, although walk-in donors are welcome as space permits. Those wishing to schedule an appointment can:
- Scan the QR code on the event flyer, or
- Call Miller-Keystone Blood Center at 800-223-6667, ext. 2, and use Sponsor Code E294.
All donors must present a valid form of identification that includes their first and last name and a photo and/or signature.
Veterans attending the drive are encouraged to ask the event coordinator about receiving a complimentary Miller-Keystone Blood Center Military Challenge Coin.
Before donating, participants are reminded to drink plenty of fluids and eat a meal within two to three hours before their donation.
Blood donations play a critical role in ensuring hospitals have an adequate supply for patients undergoing surgeries, cancer treatments, trauma care, and other medical emergencies. Organizers encourage eligible donors to consider giving the gift of life by participating in the August 13 blood drive.
