State Police: Pottsville Man Threw Lumber, Then Allegedly Threatened Victim with Gun

A Pottsville man is facing multiple charges after Pennsylvania State Police say he threatened another man with a handgun during a dispute outside a North Manheim Township residence before fleeing the scene.
According to court documents, Dylan Robert Leymeister, 27, was charged by Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven with terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, and possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use.

State police said the incident occurred at approximately 8:05 a.m. on July 12, when troopers responded to the 900 block of Garfield Avenue in North Manheim Township for a reported physical altercation between two men.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the dispute stemmed from missing funds. Police allege Leymeister arrived at the victim's mobile home to confront him and, during the argument, picked up a 4x4 piece of lumber and threw it at the victim, striking and breaking a glass rear door.

Investigators said the victim initially returned to his residence in an attempt to peacefully end the confrontation. However, police allege Leymeister then approached the residence while pulling a black handgun from his waistband. During the argument, Leymeister allegedly brandished the firearm and pointed it at the victim several times while threatening to shoot him.

According to police, after the confrontation ended, Leymeister returned to his residence with the firearm before leaving the area in a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. Troopers later reviewed surveillance video from the victim's property, which they said captured the incident.

Because police were unable to account for the handgun allegedly used during the incident, a search warrant was obtained for Leymeister's residence. According to the affidavit, investigators recovered a small amount of marijuana, two handgun magazines loaded with .40-caliber ammunition, and additional live ammunition outside the residence. Police noted the firearm itself was not recovered.

Leymeister was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli, who set bail at $50,000 straight cash. Court records show Leymeister was initially committed to Schuylkill County Prison after being unable to post bail. A professional bondsman later posted a $50,000 surety bond on July 13, and he was released.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 4, 2026, before Magisterial District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek.
