First responders filled Route 54 in Barnesville on Saturday, August 22, for the 2026 Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Convention Parade. The procession featured fire apparatus, marching units, pipe bands, mummers and the Mahanoy Area Marching Band.
Longtime Ryan Township Fire Company member and former Fire Chief Charles Smulligan served as the parade’s grand marshal.
Following judging Saturday morning, the parade stepped off at 1 p.m. and traveled along Route 54 to the fire company’s grove, where awards were presented.
The parade closed a week of events including a memorial service, training night, family night, and a mug night.
