Daniel D. “Stringy”, Strenkoski Sr., of Beury’s Lake (Ashland, PA), formerly of Llewellyn, passed away suddenly on August 8, 2026. He was 65 years young.
Born January 4, 1961, Dan was a son of the late Walter Sr. and Mary (Pellish) Strenkoski;
Dan graduated from Minersville Area High School after completing 11th grade and went on to excel at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology where he specialized in plumbing and heating and became a master of his trade. He never hesitated to step out in the middle of the night to help a friend with no heat.
Dan also spent years as a CDL truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was a jack of all trades and a mentor to many who knew him.
Growing up in Llewellyn, PA, the Friday night roar of Big Diamond Raceway (now Speedway) quickly caught his attention and he began running Slide Stocks at the track. In 1990, he moved into the newly created Roadrunner division where he earned the inaugural championship title. He went on to win back-to-back championships (1990 and 1991).
Dan’s passion was the outdoors, a trait which he passed on to his son. He was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt. Over the years, he added many beautiful trophy bucks to his collection.
Dan’s skills did not end in the woods. He leaves behind a lasting legacy at many local sportsman clubs as an extremely talented trap shooter. He was a member of numerous gun clubs including Big Hill, St. Clair Fish & Game, Phoenix Park, Seltzer, and Nimrods.
His modesty was found in his words heard by many every Sunday afternoon before a shoot – “I never win anything.”
The fact is that Dan was a winner almost every time…and in so many ways. He was loved by many.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers: Walter Jr. (wife Mary Ann), Robert, Ronald “John”, and Michael; two sisters: Alice Rodnick (husband Steve) and Rosemary Boris (husband Francis).
Surviving are his son Daniel Strenkoski Jr., whom he loved with all his heart; three fur babies: Noodles, Roxy, and Maizy; companion Lola Williams; nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends who loved him dearly.
In life, he was the guy who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. In death, he continued to give as an organ donor for the Gift of Life program.
A celebration of life will be held announced at a later date. Born in Frackville, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Eva Ringo Schultz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer J. Lazar; a son, Albert Lazar; and her brother, Emil Schultz.
Alice was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Clair of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Clair.
She is survived by her children, Mary Alice Lewis, Steven Lazar, Justine "Tina" Lazar, Mark Lazar, and Luke Lazar; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 18th, at 11 a.m. from St. Clair of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Clair with Msgr. Willam Glosser, pastor, as the celebrant. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Englewood section of Frackville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church at 250 E. Hancock St. St Clair, PA 17970
