Jade Lynn Barlow

Jade Lynn Barlow, 24, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill East, surrounded by family.
She was born on October 7, 2001, a daughter of Joy Barlow.
Jade was the kindest person. Everyone who knew her loved her. She always put everyone else’s needs before her own. She was a cat mom who loved all of her fur babies equally, and every conversation with her somehow ended up being about cats.
She is survived by her mother, Joy Barlow of Minersville; her partner, Brandon Hoover of Pottsville; her sister, Tea Barlow of Shamokin; and her fur babies, Wednesday and Simon.
Jade was preceded in death by her grandfather, Daryl Barlow; her great-grandparents, Edward and Marie Barlow; and her fur babies, Esme, Cricket, Willow, Jasper, Wylie, also known as “old man,” and Thumper.
All services were held privately in accordance with Jade’s wishes.

Kerry R. Koppenhaver
Kerry R. Koppenhaver, 59, of Pine Grove, passed away Friday, September 25, 2026, at home.
Born on April 7, 1967, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Robert G. “Nip” Anspach and Darla L. (Stewart) Koppenhaver.
Kerry enjoyed working on small engines, restoring vintage dirt bikes, Enduros and minibikes, and collecting old gas and automobile memorabilia. He especially enjoyed restoring vintage Yamaha dirt bikes.
Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Tammi Dewees; two brothers, Keith Koppenhaver Sr. of Pine Grove and Ken Hensel of Schuylkill Haven; a sister, Kelly Miller of Pine Grove; a niece, Kaitlynn Koppenhaver; a nephew, Keith Koppenhaver Jr.; a great-niece, Ryver Leiby; and many other family members, including nieces and nephews.
At Kerry’s request, there will be no services. Interment will be in Jacob’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Ralph R. Reitenbach Jr.
Ralph R. Reitenbach Jr., 67, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his home.
Born in Harrisburg on February 10, 1958, he was a son of the late Ralph Sr. and Merlene Bowerman Reitenbach.
Ralph was a 1976 graduate of Williams Valley High School. He retired from the Senate of Pennsylvania following more than 32 years of service.
Ralph enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially at locations such as Hersheypark, Disney theme parks, SeaWorld and the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. He was an avid photographer who was often seen carrying more than one camera at a time. He also rarely missed a Los Angeles, Oakland or Las Vegas Raiders game.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Reitenbach Mace.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle M. Reitenbach of Orlando, Florida; bonus children Shandra Dohoney of Baltimore, Maryland, and Kyle Dohoney of Exton; a sister, Kathy M. Ferraro and her husband, Dave, of Tower City; and nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 2026, from the chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Those attending are invited to wear their favorite NFL jersey, Disney attire or a pirate accessory in Ralph’s honor.

Thomas F. Elison
Thomas F. Elison, 80, of Tamaqua, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026, at home.
Born in Pottsville on August 22, 1946, he was a son of the late Paul and Jennie (Parry) Elison.
Married for 59 years, he was the loving husband of Lucinda M. “Cindy” (Smith) Elison.
Tom was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pottsville and a 1965 graduate of Nativity BVM High School.
He worked as parts manager for Bertolet Volkswagen. He later turned his love of antiques into a career. He was a partner in the former Curious Goods in Pottsville and managed Black Diamond Antiques in the former Schuylkill Mall. Tom also operated a stand at Renninger’s Market in Schuylkill Haven for more than 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was a life member of West End Hose Company in Pottsville.
In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his nephew, Jason Modesto and his wife, Karen, of Seltzer; a great-nephew, Nico; and a great-niece, Natalia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pottsville. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery in Pottsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901.

Charles J. “Chuckie” Cress

Charles J. “Chuckie” Cress, 90, of Ashland, passed away peacefully Monday, September 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late Peter and Marie (Winters) Cress.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rose Winters, and his siblings, James Cress, Joseph Cress, Elizabeth Cress and Roseann Wayne.
Chuckie was a self-employed coal miner who owned and operated C & K Coal Company in Tremont. He was a member of the Independent Coal Miners and was featured in a film about bootleg coal mining.
Chuckie was a man who commanded a room with his presence. He was strong and charismatic yet humble, and he will be remembered for the lasting impression he made on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marie D. (Buhl) Cress; his children, Charles Cress Jr. and his wife, Melissa, and Greg Cress and his wife, Teri; his grandchildren, Kirstyn, Rylee, Garrett, Alexander and Kambel; many great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marie McCabe.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, 403 West Main Street, Girardville, with the Rev. Christopher Zelonis officiating. Friends and family are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Patricia J. “Pat” Day

Patricia J. “Pat” Day, 94, of Pottsville, died Friday, September 18, 2026, at home.
She was born February 1, 1932, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Michael and Katherine Haffey Dumbrowney.
She was a 1950 graduate of Pottsville High School.
Before retiring, Pat worked for Van Heusen Shirt Factory and other garment manufacturers. She later worked at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville.
Pat was a devout member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. She received the Spirit of St. Patrick Award in 2024 for her dedicated volunteer service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlen R. Day, who passed away December 2, 2023; two great-grandsons, Shawn Day and Tristyn Bruen; a great-great-granddaughter, Hadlie Trate; and a grandson-in-law, Chuck Sorokach.
Surviving are her daughter, Cheryl Swartz; a son, Arlen “Rick” Day II and his companion, Tammy Bebelheimer, all of Pottsville; nine grandchildren, Kim Quinn and her husband, Bobby, Heath Bruen and his wife, June, Randy Bruen, Diana Sorokach and her companion, Brandon Weibley, Melissa Day, Christopher Day, Sandy Day, Samantha Day, and Samantha Jo Jones and her husband, Ben; 23 great-grandchildren, Dylan, RJ, Elliott, Kayonna, Whitten, Braydon, Tori, Angel, Ashley, Kenny, Kara, Savanna, Kayla, Sakira, Malaki, Caitlyn, Brady, Austin, Maddy, Mason, Elizabeth, Madison and Shaelie; nine great-great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Karson, Grayson, Koda, Raelyn, Jacob, Everleigh, Heath and Belle; a sister, Nancy Haag of Pottsville; and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2026, at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Pottsville.
The family prefers remembrances in the form of contributions made in Pat’s memory to the St. Patrick Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901.

Mark D. Furman

Mark D. Furman, 62, of Frackville, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill East.
Born in Pottsville on August 11, 1964, he was a son of the late David Furman and Carol (Soult) Furman.
He was a 1982 graduate of North Schuylkill High School. He worked as a cook and caterer at several area restaurants, including Lewie’s, and made wedding cakes for many couples.
Mark enjoyed volunteering at the Altamont Fire Company fish fries.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Brian “Furmy” Furman, and a sister, Wendy Stine.
Surviving are his children, Zachary Furman and his wife, Bryanna, of Arizona, and Kyrsten Furman of Frackville; his grandchildren, Dillon Furman, Oliver Furman, Barley Furman and Mayple Furman; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2026, at Nice-Hart Funeral Home, Inc., 9 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, PA 17931. Friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral costs.
