Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Ryan
Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Ryan, 85, of Mahanoy City, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–East Norwegian in Pottsville.
Elizabeth was born in Mahanoy City on January 16, 1941, a daughter of the late Ann (Leahy) and Philip Ryan.
She worked for many years at Eagle Brothers Shirt Factory in Mahanoy City until its closing. She later worked in the mailroom at the State Correctional Institution at Frackville until her retirement.
Elizabeth was a lifelong member of her beloved St. Canicus Church and a founding member of the Historical Society of St. Canicus. She loved Notre Dame football, dogs and all things Irish.
She was a member of the Gold Team in the Mahanoy City Women’s Volleyball League. She also enjoyed dancing, golf, swimming and 1950s music. Elizabeth graduated from Mahanoy City High School in 1959.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Mame Pollack of Mahanoy City, and those she affectionately considered “her kids,” including nieces and nephews Jennifer and Shea Mealia, Bridget Pollack, Christopher and Lindsey Pollack, Jack and Heidi Pollack, Colleen Fowler and Andre Hinchman, Timothy and Karen Ryan, and Flip Ryan.
She is also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews Christopher, John, Jack, Andrew, Mia, Tessa, Kyle, Gwen, Cailyn, Patrick and Sammy, along with many other loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lenore Ryan of Mahanoy City, and brothers, James Ryan of Fairfax, Virginia, and Phillip Ryan of Tamaqua.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2026, at St. Clare of Assisi Parish in St. Clair, with Monsignor William Glosser officiating.
Friends and family may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will follow at St. Canicus Cemetery in Mahanoy City.

Constance A. “Connie” (Chatkiewicz) Taylor
Constance A. “Connie” (Chatkiewicz) Taylor, 73, of Pattersonville in Ringtown and formerly of Shenandoah, passed away Friday afternoon, September 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest in Allentown.
Born in Shenandoah on May 28, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Anthony J. Chatkiewicz Sr. and Rafael (Disabella) Chatkiewicz.
Connie was a 1971 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School. She also graduated from Empire Beauty School in Pottsville and earned her license as a beautician.
On November 21, 1981, at the former First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah, she married George H. Taylor, who survives.
Prior to her retirement, Connie was employed by Advanced Dermatology in Pottsville as a medical records supervisor.
Connie was a member of Divine Mercy Parish in Shenandoah. She was an officer of the former Ladies Auxiliary of the Columbia Hose & Steam Fire Engine Company No. 1 in Shenandoah, where she served as secretary.
She was also a former member and officer of the William Penn Softball League Auxiliary and a former member of the Shenandoah Valley Booster Club.
Connie found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid bingo player and loved spending time in her garden, caring for her flowers and growing vegetables. She also enjoyed camping and creating memories with her family and friends.
Affectionately known as “Nonni” to her family, Connie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and “cioce.” Her greatest joy was her family, and she cherished every moment spent with those she loved most.
She especially loved watching her grandchildren and being a part of their lives. Her warmth, love and devotion to her family reflected the person she was. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her three brothers, Leonard, Michael and Bernard Chatkiewicz.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of almost 45 years, George H. Taylor, are her son, Ricky Yarnitsky and his wife, Heather, of Ringtown; her daughter, Mandy Taylor and her partner, Joe Alshefski, of Shenandoah Heights; and her three treasured grandchildren, Chase Snyder, Kadence Yarnitsky and Bryden Yarnitsky.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Tony Chatkiewicz and his wife, Mary, of Catawissa; Rosie Koch of Shenandoah; Debbie Sosna and her husband, Paul, of Brandonville; Fritz Chatkiewicz of Shenandoah; and Diane Chatkiewicz and her partner, Barry Heiser, of Mahanoy City.
Additional survivors include godchildren, aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends, along with her faithful dog, “Chewy.”
Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., 40 North Jardin Street, Shenandoah. The Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Robert E. Glaser
Robert E. Glaser, 87, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–East.
Born in Schuylkill Haven on February 5, 1939, Robert was a son of the late Ernest E. and Alva (Maberry) Glaser.
Robert was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1957, and Muhlenberg College, Class of 1961.
He taught high school mathematics and was employed by the Schuylkill County Assistance Office for many years.
Robert loved and revered Johann Sebastian Bach and sang with the former Bach Choir of Bethlehem for many years.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Glaser, in 2004, and four sisters, Nancy Campbell in 1982, Ruth Doll in 2011, Janet Glaser in 2012 and Carol Glaser in 2020.
Robert is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Keller of Norfolk, Virginia; and nieces and nephews Lynn (Campbell) Fitch and family, Thomas Campbell and family, John Keller and family, Julie (Keller) Hering and family, Joseph Costanzo, and David Costanzo and family.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2026, at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home in Schuylkill Haven.
At Robert’s request, there will be no formal service. Interment will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park.

David E. Leach (Updated)
David E. Leach, 77, of Ashland, passed away September 24, 2026, at Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital in Orwigsburg.
Born in Lavelle, he was a son of the late George and Leona (Banning) Leach.
David was a graduate of North Schuylkill High School, Class of 1969. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jillian Marie Leach; brothers, Donald Leach and Harlan Leach; and sisters, Doris Herb, Dorothy Shadle, Rose Bogetti and Catherine Flannery.
David is survived by his son, Ryan D. Leach of Ashland, and brother, William Leach.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
