The National Weather Service issued the advisory Tuesday afternoon, warning that frost could damage sensitive outdoor vegetation. Plants left uncovered could be killed as temperatures near the ground approach freezing.

- Advisory ends: 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 7
- Expected temperatures: As low as the mid-30s

Valley locations and sheltered areas are expected to experience the coldest temperatures.
How to Protect Plants From Frost
Residents should cover sensitive outdoor vegetation before temperatures fall Tuesday night. Potted plants should be moved indoors or into a protected location when possible.
Near-ground temperatures may be colder than the official air temperature, especially in valleys, sheltered areas and other locations where cold air settles.
The advisory also includes Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties.
