MAHANOY CITY — The Mahanoy Area Marching Band is bringing Broadway to the field with “Curtain Up!”, its Fall 2026 production featuring music from several well-known stage shows.
The band includes 37 musicians and 17 members of the band front and color guard. Students in the program are in grades seven through 12.
Alivia “Pippy” Sillers and Tori Davis serve as the band’s drum majors.
Chelsea Ferraro is in her eighth year as band director. The staff also includes Evelyn Minarchick, percussion instructor and color guard advisor, and Kenzie Kaczmarczyk, co-color guard advisor.
“Curtain Up!” Brings Broadway to the Field
The 2026 show opens with the familiar theme from The Phantom of the Opera before taking audiences to Oz with the Wicked — Part 2 Medley, featuring “Dancing Through Life” and “Defying Gravity.”
The band then turns to the music of Michael Jackson with “Billie Jean” from MJ the Musical. Mahanoy Area closes the production with “Dancing Queen” from Mamma Mia!
Through “Curtain Up!,” the band aims to capture the sound, energy and variety of Broadway while presenting audiences with music from several generations of popular stage productions.
The band’s goal for the season is to continue growing musically and as a band community.
