Two County School Districts Awarded Grants to Fund School Police and Resource Officers

In a press release from the Department of Education, it was announced that two Schuylkill County School Districts were awarded grants to fund school police and resource officers.

Mahanoy City Receives Grant to Demolish Brewery and Build Park

Officials announced Friday morning in Mahanoy City that the borough will receive $420,000 in grant money to demolish the former Kaier's Brewery and redevelop the area into a community park and playground.

PPL is reporting that over 400 customers are currently without power in the Butler Township area near Gordon of Schuylkill County.

UPDATE:  A check of the status at 1:25PM showed that power had been restored.
