North Schuylkill and Marian Catholic Will ThinkBIG This Friday Night

This Friday evening, when the North Schuylkill Spartan Football team hosts Marian Catholic, it will have special meaning at Ghosh Orthodontic Field at Spartan Stadium.

With the month of September being Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, the Spartans are joining forces with the Marian Colts to support the ThinkBIG program at Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, in Danville. Both football teams will be wearing gold socks to honor the cause. The Spartan cheerleaders will be wearing gold ribbons in their hair, and the Spartan Band and Color Guard will be sporting gold bandanas.

The Spartan cheerleaders will be hosting a bake sale inside of the stadium, and there will be collection cans for those wishing to donate to the ThinkBIG campaign.

In addition, there will also be a basket raffle taking place that evening. Fans can purchase tickets to try to win any of several themed gift baskets that are being donated by North Schuylkill administration, faculty, clubs, and sport teams.

All of the proceeds raised on Friday night will go to the ThinkBIG Pediatric Cancer Fund, which was created to provide an extension of care to patients and families in their most dire time of need. The ThinkBIG program aims to offset some stress for pediatric oncology families by providing financial support for unexpected out-of-pocket expenses.

In a related event, North Schuylkill will be hosting WBRE’s Friday Morning Pep Rally that same day. The pep rally, hosted by Jasmine Brooks, will take place inside the stadium from 5 to 7 am. Members of the Spartan band, color guard, and cheerleading squads will be on hand to showcase their talent, as well as to promote Friday night’s fundraising game.

Footage from the pep rally is shown live throughout WBRE’s morning newscasts.
