Phone Scam Alert Tries to Gain Access to your Computer

According to multiple reports to our page and also now reported on "Schuylkill County Police Activity", there is a new phone scam alert where scammers are trying to gain access to your computer.
According to people who have reported experiencing this scam, a person receives a phone call from a computer tech service and they inform you that your computer is at risk of being hacked.

They ask you to get on your computer and follow steps in order to correct the problem.

At this point, no one has reported going any further with the phone call and have hung up.  Some people have reported telling them not to call back, but they still state they will call again.

Under no circumstances should you follow the steps these people tell you to follow.  If they even get you to access a website, they may have already installed something onto your computer.

No other companies other than your service provider should be contacting you about a potential problem of your computer being hacked.

If you feel your computer may be compromised, you should contact a local computer repair company.

Have you received any calls like the one described?
