Pottsville Police Apprehend Man After Fleeing with Daughter from Schuylkill County Courthouse After Losing Custody

A man was arrested for violating a court custody order and fleeing with his daughter at the Schuylkill County Courthouse on Monday.

According to Pottsville Police, on June 9, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Schuylkill County authorities responded to a report of a child abduction at the Schuylkill County Courthouse, located at 401 N 2nd Street.

The incident involved 41-year-old Ryan Frasnelli, who allegedly fled with his 15-year-old daughter in a white Penske box truck with Indiana license plate 3150081 after losing custody in a court hearing.

According to the child's mother, Frasnelli, her ex-husband with no known address, took their daughter and left the courthouse after a court order granted her custody.

The order, signed by Honorable Judge James Goodman on June 9, 2025, mandated that the child remain in her mother’s care until a further hearing.

Police received information that the child’s cell phone was pinging near the Cressona Mall, prompting a coordinated response from multiple local agencies.

Officers located the white Penske truck in the mall parking lot and observed Frasnelli exiting a Giant supermarket with a teenage female, identified as his daughter. Frasnelli was apprehended without incident and taken into custody.

Following the investigation, authorities filed a criminal complaint charging Frasnelli with one count of Interference with Custody of Children, a third-degree felony. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Reiley and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 straight cash bail.

The Schuylkill County Sheriff’s Office provided officers with a copy of the court order to confirm the custody arrangement. The child was safely returned to her mother’s care.
