Two Area School Districts Challenge State Funding

Two area schools are part of a lawsuit that is challenging the constitutionality of the state funding of public education.

Shenandoah Valley School District and the Panther Valley School District are part of 7 plaintiffs in a lawsuit that is being filed in Commonwealth Court Monday.  Other district included are the Wilkes Barre School District, William Penn, District of Lancaster and Greater Johnstown.

The lawsuit contends that state officials, lawmakers, and the governor failed to uphold the constitutionality obligation to provide a system of public education that gives all children the resources they need to meet state-imposed academic standards.
