Shenandoah Man in Schuylkill County Prison on Child Sexual Abuse Charges

A Shenandoah man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on child sexual abuse charges.

On July 5, 2025, Shenandoah Police were alerted by the Schuylkill County Communications Center to a report of a man engaging in sexual acts in the presence of an 8-month-old child.

The report was prompted by a caller who claimed to have seen a video of the incident.

According to court documents the child’s mother assisted police in identifying the suspect, Jalvi De Jesus Nunez, 19, of Shenandoah, and pinpointed the location of the incident.

When confronted, Nunez admitted to his actions, attributing them to personal struggles, and later confirmed the details to authorities.

When confronted by the child’s mother, Nunez reportedly admitted to the act, citing depression and loneliness as factors, claiming he was not in his right mind. In a statement to police, Nunez said, “Something took over me and I did what I did,” confirming the incident occurred at the residence identified by the mother.

The Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General has charged Nunez with multiple offenses, including:
  • Photographing or filming a sex act involving a minor
  • Criminal use of a communication facility
  • Possession of child sexual abuse material
  • Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child
  • Indecent assault of a person under 13
  • Incest of a minor under 13
  • Endangering the welfare of children
  • Corruption of minors
  • Indecent exposure
Nunez was arraigned on July 9, 2025, before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $100,000 straight cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 17th, 2025.
