Therapy Dog Demonstration at the Schuylkill County Fair

You will think that the dogs are playing when you see them demonstrating their skills at the first ever
Therapy Dog Demonstration to be held in conjunction with the Schuylkill County Fair.

This special Therapy Dog Demonstration will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at 6PM in the Ag Arena.

The therapy dogs will be under the direction of Sally Bair who is with Therapy Dog International. Lacy and Maggie are English Cockers. They visit nursing homes, hospitals and other institutions wherever therapy dogs are needed.

Lacey is the veteran of the pair having made over 150 visits in her capacity as a therapy dog in about five years. Maggie a little newer and younger to the helpful therapy she provides has just reached 50 visits since starting March of 2014. Lacey and Maggie visit Ronald McDonald Houses, hospitals, prisons and schools. They volunteer at the Special Olympics in State College each summer where they greet the athletes at the Olympic Village for the duration of the games. School visits, allow Maggie and Lacey to share information about hot to be safe with dogs and help children learn about creativity by celebrating International Dot Day. They demonstrate their trick skills and participate in events where children read to them. Dogs play important roles in our lives today.

Visit with some therapy dogs. Observe and enjoy the skills they've developed. You don’t want to miss these delightful dogs in action July 29 at 6PM in the Ag Arena of the Schuylkill County Fair where we are “Harvesting the Fun.” For more information on the Fair visit the fair web site at www.schuylkillfiar.com or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
