Police Attempting to Identify Man Responsible For Theft


Pottsville Police are looking for information on identifying a man responsible for a theft in the city.


According to Police, a 66 year old man was walking on West Norwegian Street in the 400 block just after 1am on June 30th when he was approached by a man asking for directions.  The suspect then grabbed the 66 year old, threw him to the ground, and demanded he hand over his wallet.

After the victim had handed over his wallet, the suspect ran from the scene.

The thief is described as a black male, mid to late 20's, about 6 feet tall, with black hair. He was described as wearing a white tee shirt.

The suspect was with another individual who watched from a distance.

The stolen wallet was later discovered in the 300 block of West Market Street.

Police provided the surveillance photo below of the suspect involved.
