Man Flown to the Hospital After Saturday Morning Crash in East Union Township

A man was flown to the hospital after Saturday morning crash in East Union Township.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 6:30am on Route 924 near the intersection of Main Boulevard and Mountain Drive.

Police say the crash occurred when Michael Heiler, 58, of Ringtown was travelling south on Route 924 and failed to negotiate a right curve after experiencing a medical emergency.

Heiler traveled off the east berm and struck a guard rail, continued over the guard rail and down a 50 foot embankment, coming to a final rest against some trees.

Heiler sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Shenandoah EMS to a Medevac helicopter for transport to Geisinger in Danville.

Assisting at the scene were the Sheppton Oneida Fire Department, Nuremberg Fire, and Shenandoah EMS.
