UPDATE: Latest Information on Shooting in Saint Clair Monday Evening

Police continue to investigate a shooting near Saint Clair.

According to Saint Clair Police Chief William Dempsey, on Monday Evening around 9:00pm, Saint Clair Police were called to the area of the Schuylkill County Housing Projects, located in the 300 block of Cherry Street for a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, police determined that an unknown suspect fired a handgun several times into a vehicle occupied by two individuals. The vehicle was struck several times and sustained extensive damage. The occupants of the vehicle were not struck or injured by the gun fire. 

The unidentified suspect then fled the area on foot and a search of the area was conducted but turned up negative.

According to Police, a suspect has not been captured or identified at this time.

An investigation was conducted at the crime scene where physical evidence was recovered.

Minersville, Orwigsburg, Pottsville, Butler Township, Mahanoy City, Mahanoy Township, Palo Alto and several other communities.

The investigation continues and police are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact them at (570) 429-2240.



This will mark the second shooting in Schuylkill County in just as many days after an incident was reported early Sunday morning on Market Street in Pottsville.

A man was injured in the incident but was released from the hospital.
