According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 9:30am in New Castle Township when Luis Cruz-Ortiz, 23, of Saint Clair was travelling in the southbound lanes of Route 61 south of Frackville.
Cruz-Ortiz was attempting to pass another vehicle in the right lane and while negotiating a curve lost control. The vehicle hit loose gravel causing it to spin out and strike a guard rail. After the impact with the guard rail, the vehicle struck an embankment causing the vehicle flip onto it's side.
Cruz-Ortiz was not injured in the crash.
