Man Charged with Arson and Assault After Setting Kitchen on Fire During Police Incident

A man has been charged with arson and assault after setting a kitchen on fire during a police incident on Saturday.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, around 2:00pm Saturday, troopers responded to the report of a domestic disturbance at a home on Goose Pond Road, in East Brunswick Township, approximately 4 miles east of New Ringgold.

Police say when police arrived they learned that a female victim had fled the home to a neighbors and reported that she had been struck with a club and threatened by Theodore Sadoski, 54.

Police made contact with Sadoski in his home and it was at this point, Sadoski set fire to the kitchen and fled to a wooded area.

Troopers at the scene were able to put out the fire with extinguishers.

With cooperation with the West Penn Township Police, a search was initiated where Sadoski was found as a passenger in a vehicle and taken into custody without incident.

Deputy Fire Marshall Joseph Hall investigated the incendiary fire .

Community Volunteer Fire Company of New Ringgold and West Penn Township Fire Company responded and assisted at the scene.

Additional manpower was also requested from the State Police barracks in Schuylkill Haven.

Sadoski was charged with arson, aggravated assault, and other related offenses, arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
