According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 5:30am on Summer Valley Road (Route 895) just east of the intersection with Evergreen Drive in East Brunswick Township south of McKeansburg.
Police say the crash occurred when John Culp, 50, of Drums was travelling west behind a tractor trailer. Culp attempted to pass the tractor trailer in the opposite lane of travel and struck another vehicle head-on driven by Robert Shutter, 47, of Reading. Both vehicles came to a final rest on the shoulder of the highway.
Shutter was reported to have suffered minor injuries in the crash while Culp was transported to an area hospital by Schuylkill EMS with unknown injuries.
Culp will be cited for the crash.
