Man in Custody After Fire in Rush Township Wednesday

A man is in custody after an incident involving a fire in Rush Township late Wednesday.


According to Rush Township Police, on Wednesday, around 5:30pm, police and fire personnel responded to a report of an individual shooting a gun, and subsequently setting a house on fire in the unit block of Ben Titus Road.

Upon arrival, a 63 year-old male was taken into custody, and a handgun was seized. The fire, which was contained to the front porch area of the property was extinguished by the Hometown Volunteer Fire Department.

The male was taken from the scene for treatment.

According to Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, Rush Township Police Department is withholding the male’s name.

His name will be released when forthcoming criminal charges are filed by the Rush Township Police Department in the near future.
