Schuylkill Haven Police Investigating Killing of Ducks at Bubeck Park

Police are investigating the killing of mallard ducks at Bubeck Park in Schuylkill Haven over the weekend.

According to Schuylkill Haven Police, on Tuesday, October 9th, a report was filed by concerned residents of Schuylkill Haven Borough about the killing of 5 Mallard ducks at Stoyers Dam Park.

Information gathered at the time was an unknown person or persons killed the Mallard ducks and placed them in the water. 

Police say it is believed the incident occurred sometime over the previous weekend. 

A black Wilson aluminum baseball bat was found under the wooden bridge at the west end of the park and turned over to police. 

The injuries sustained by the ducks would be consistent with being struck by a baseball bat. 

Police are conducting an investigation and are currently reviewing video surveillance of the area.

Two individuals have each offered $100 awards for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible. 

According to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, the penalty for killing the Mallard ducks is a misdemeanor Federal violation which carries a fine of $15,000 and imprisonment of 6 months.
