Victims ID'd in Fatal Crash near Tamaqua

The Pennsylvania State Police have released the identity of the victims from Tuesday evenings fatal crash in Walker Township.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Zachary Kabana, 24, of Tamaqua, Jeremy Behler, 24, of Tuscarora, and Kylee Mullen, 23, of Lehighton all died from their injuries at the scene of the crash.

A 17 year old, from Tamaqua was a passenger with Kabana was injured and flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest with an unknown severity of injuries.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 9:30pm at the intersection of Route 209 and Mining Road.

Police say the crash occurred when the Kabana, operating a Dodge Ram attempted to make a left turn from Mining Road onto Route 209.  Behler, operating a Volkswagen, was travelling north on Route 209 at the same time.  Behler attempted to avoid a collision but struck front end to the drivers side door of the Dodge Ram.

Upon impact, the Dodge Ram became airborne and was thrown over the guide rail.  The truck struck several trees and came to a final rest on its passenger side in a wooded area.

The Volkwagen spun and struck a guide rail.

The 3 fatal victims were all pronounced dead at the scene by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Deb Detweiler.  According to Detweiler, Zachary Kabana was pronounced at 10:43pm, Jeremy Behler was pronounced at 10:52pm, and Kylee Mullen was pronounced at 10:58pm.

According to the police report, Kabana was reported to have been driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

A Pennsylvania State Police Forensics and CARS unit assisted at the scene.
