Just before 6:00am, emergency personnel were dispatched to the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Milemarker 104.9, just north of the Ravine Exit, for a mult-vehicle crash.
The specifics on the crash were not available at the time of the posting, but the crash involved a Jeep rear-ending a tractor trailer.
The driver of the Jeep became heavily entrapped and it took fire crews nearly an hour to extricate the victim.
The victim was transported to a waiting helicopter at the Hampton Inn at Pine Grove exit and was flown with unknown injuries.
Interstate 81 was closed for almost 2 hours while the scene was cleared and reopened around 8:45am.
