Man Facing Assault and Trespass Charges

A man is facing trespass and assault charges after an incident in Ashland Sunday morning.

According to Ashland Police, on Sunday, November 18, 2018 around 9:00am, police were called to a disturbance at a home in the 1100 Block of Pine Street, for a male banging on the door attempting to get into the residence.

Upon arriving at the residence, police didn't immediately locate the suspect, Daniel Leary, 40.

After several minutes, Lear approached the police and advised that he was trying to get into the residence because his girlfriend was in there and he thought she was doing drugs with her children in the home.

Police spoke with the caller, who state that Leary broke into the residence and assaulted one of the male residents.

Police investigated, and the evidence at the scene supported the caller's version of the events.

Leary was taken into custody, and Officer Daniel Weikel charged with Felony Criminal Trespasss, simple assault, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge David Ross and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $50,000 straight cash bail.

Ashland Police were assisted at the scene by Butler Township Police and Frackville Police.
