STC Lends a Hand to Thanksgiving Shoppers

As Schuylkill County residents shopped for their last couple items for Thanksgiving, they were lent a hand by students.

On Wednesday, students from the Schuylkill Technology Center North and South were on-hand at Boyer's Supermarket locations throughout Schuylkill County to unload shopping carts, bag groceries, carry groceries, and help load groceries into cars.

According to Chris Groody, Assistant Director of Career and Technical Education at STC, the outreach program is part of their School Climate Initiative.

The School Climate Initiative is a comprehensive effort to build strong school-to-student and school-to-family relationships so that students and families are connected and engaged in the school experience. The initiative strives to create a supportive learning environment that addresses the “social and emotional, civic and academic growth for all students.”

In all, 59 students students participated in Wednesday program at Boyer's throughout Schuylkill County.

We stopped by Ashland's Boyer's Supermarket where students from North Schuylkill, Minersville, and Tri-Valley were helping.
