Woman Facing Retail Theft Charges in Ashland

Ashland Police have filed retail theft charges against a woman who they say attempted to steal from Boyer's Market earlier this week.


According to Ashland Police, on Monday, January 14, 2019, Chief Gerard Daley was dispatched to Boyer's Market, Ashland, for a retail theft.

Upon arrival, Chief Daley was informed that a manager watched a female stuff multiple items into her purse.  When the manager confronted the woman, she emptied the purse into a shopping cart.

When the manager told the woman, that they were calling the police, she fled out of the store and drove away.

The woman was identified as Christina Covach, 47, of Girardville.

Covach has 2 prior convictions of retail theft in 2012.

Chief Daley filed retail theft charges against Covach, who was arraigned and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

The total value of the items that were attempted to be stolen were $24.44.  No restitution is due to the store recovering the items.
