Pottsville native Shawn Shoener, who now has a studio in Llewlyn, PA will be the featured artist at the Walk In Art Center, in Schuylkill Haven, for March and April 2019.
Shawn’s full time job is running Shawn Shoener’s tree trimming and removal service.
His full time role is what led him to his artwork nearly 20 years ago. Shawn explains his favorite subject matter is wood working on trees. He’s started doing art after he saw the intricacies of the inside of the trees he was cutting down for his clients. He then began his art journey by making furniture in 1998.
Shawn said “I like to work with whatever I take down”, “If can climb it, I can cut it down and then create something from it’”
His work is seen all over Schuylkill Haven including Poseidon on Parkway created in 2016, Shawn is known to carve and leave pieces at places he has done tree work like the tree on the corner of Parkway and Main St. in Schuylkill Haven, a piece that he designed on Schuylkill Haven Borough Day.
Shawn is known to “leave his mark wherever he goes.”
