WEATHER UPDATE: Winter Weather Advisory in Effect until Thursday Morning

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County until Thursday morning.


WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 6 inches and ice accumulation of one to tow tenths of an inch are expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central Pennsylvania.

* WHEN...The heaviest snow will during the mid-to-late morning into the early afternoon hours. Snowfall rates may briefly exceed 1 inch per hour along and south of I-80. Snow will transition to an icy mix of sleet and freezing rain through the afternoon. Freezing rain is expected this evening into tonight before ending early Thursday morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The snow and ice will result in difficult travel conditions, including the evening commute. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times. Temperatures will slowly climb above freezing by daybreak Thursday.

Elk-Cameron-Northern Clinton-Clearfield-Northern Centre- Southern Centre-Southern Clinton-Union-Snyder-Montour- Northumberland-Columbia-Schuylkill- Including the cities of St. Marys, Ridgway, Emporium, Renovo, DuBois, Clearfield, Philipsburg, State College, Lock Haven, Lewisburg, Selinsgrove, Danville, Sunbury, Shamokin, Bloomsburg, Berwick, and Pottsville.
