Wing Fest Crowns Best Wings; Helps Raise Funds for North Schuylkill Softball

On Sunday, Schuylkill County's best competed against each other in North Schuylkill Softball's 10th Annual Wing Fest.

The event was a fundraiser organized by the team's boosters and was held at the Fountain Springs Country Inn.

Restaurants participating in the event were

 - Black Diamond Bar and Restaurant
 - Jimmy O's Sports Bar
 - Roma Pizza
 - Wagon Wheel
 - Rocky's Sweet Pizz
 - Tony's Meat Market
 - Randazzo's Pizza and Restaurant
 - OIP, Pottsville
 - Roman's Lounge
 - Vito's Coal Fire

The participants created 275 of their best wings and competed in four categories (Best Overall, Hottest, Most Unique, People's Choice).  The first three categories were determined by a panel of judges that included
  • Matt Hirsch and Barry Stoud from Schuylkill Valley Sports
  • Hailey Bianco and Bryan Scofield from PA Live
  • Jeff Bucannan from Planet Fitness
  • Todd Selgrade from Screeners, Inc. and Centiole's Pizza
  • Justin Reed from Skook News
  • Schuylkill County District Attorney Mike O'Pake
 The People's Choice was awarded to the wings that got the most votes from the 275 guests that attended the event.

At the end of the event, the winners were announced
  • Honorable Mention - Sweet Thai Chili Wings from Tony's Meat Market, Minersville
  • Hottest Wings - Wicked Raspberry from the Wagon Wheel, Ringtown
  • Most Unique - Chicken Parmesan from Randazzo's Pizza and Restaurant, Tremont
  • Best Overall - Sweet Heat from Friendship Fire Company, Englewood
