Passport Program Designed to Celebrate the Importance of Schuylkill County Tourism

The Schuylkill County Visitors’ Bureau recently released a brand new summer initiative in partnership with fourteen area tourism organizations.

The first ever Schuylkill Summer Passport to Fun will take participants on a recreational journey through the history, culture, art, and leisure resources of Schuylkill County and beyond.

The Schuylkill Summer Passport to Fun program will begin on Friday, May 3rd and last through Saturday, September 7th. At each of the fourteen stops, passport holders will have their passport stamped indicating their attendance at that location. Once 10 of the 14 locations have been visited, and passports stamped, individuals may mail their completed passport to the SCVB Welcome Center to be entered in a prize drawing. The Grand Prize is a 55” Samsung UHD TV. Additional runner-up prizes will also be awarded, and will include area gift cards to: O’Neal’s Pub, Yuengling Brewery gift Shop, Majestic Theater, Tamaqua Community Art Center, Kowalonek’s Kielbasy Shop, Mountain Valley Golf Course, Famous Reading Outdoors, Strike Zone Alleys, WK&S Railroad, Vito’s Coal Fired Pizza and Restaurant along with passes to Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, Heisler’s Dairy Bar and Jerry’s Classic Cars & Collectibles Museum. The total value of all prizes is estimated at $1,000.

Each of the fourteen participating locations holds a unique experience for visitors. There is no cost to participate in the passport program, but admission fees may apply at several of the locations. To get started, travelers may pick up a free passport from SCVB Welcome Center in Union Station, Pottsville, Holiday Inn Express, Frackville, Red Lion Café, Pine Grove or Tamaqua Station Restaurant, Tamaqua. Passports can also be downloaded at www.schuylkill.org. All locations will be open during their normal posted hours. Please call or visit individual websites for complete hours of operation.
