Nearly 50 Animals Found at Home near Klingerston

A serious case of animal neglect was discovered Wednesday in Upper Mahantango Township.

The Hillside SPCA near Pottsville received a tip that there was the possibility of at least 20 dogs outside a home in the area of 1400 Ridge Road, near Klingerstown after a dead dog was found in a stream.

State Police and SPCA officials responded with a search warrant and found not only dogs, but numerous other animals as well.

In all, 43 animals that included dogs, cats, donkeys, and goat were rescued.  That number does not include the bodies of dead animals that were found at the home as well.

Officials are currently looking for Vincent Weist, who is the owner of the home.  As of early Thursday, Weist has not made contact with police.
