Excessive Heat Watches and Warnings Issued through the Weekend

The National Weather Service has issued "Excessive Heat" Watches and Warnings through the weekend for Schuylkill County.

HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EDT

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM EDT
SUNDAY...

The National Weather Service in State College has issued an
Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect from noon to 8 PM EDT
Sunday.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...105 to 115 today and again Sunday.

* TIMING...The highest values will be in the afternoons, but overnight low temperatures will also be very warm and the air oppressively muggy.

* TEMPERATURE...High temperatures today and Sunday will be in the mid to upper 90s. Overnight lows will remain in the oppressive mid to upper 70s.

* Impacts...The excessive heat may quickly cause heat stress or heat stroke.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Limit or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities. Find shade and stay hydrated. Check up on the elderly, sick and those without air conditioning. Never leave kids or pets unattended...look before you lock.
