Minersville Man Charged for Marijuana Growing Operation

A Minersville man was arrested this past week by Minersville Police for running a marijuana growing operation.


According to Minersville Police, on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, around 2:00pm, a search warrant was executed at 434 Pottsville Street, Minersville.

During the search, police found the following items.
 - 8 Live mature and budded marijuana plants
 - a clear container with approximately 3 pounds of loose marijuana
 - numerous ledger sheets detailing drug transactions and customers
 - large quantity of items facilitating the marijuana grow operation including heat lamps, potting soil, water, plant food, and fans
 - a large quantity of drug paraphernalia including smoking devices and jars
 - numerous digital scales and packaging materials found throughout the house
 - 12 gauge shotgun

Upon completion of the search, Steven Devitt, 43, of Minersville was taken into custody, where he provided a written statement to police that he was running a marijuana growing operation.

Minersville Police Patrolman Jeffrey Bowers charged Devitt with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia

Devitt was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $25,000 (10%) bail.
