Authorities Investigate Threat at Pottsville Area; Additional Safety Protocols Enacted for Wednesday

Authorities are investigating a school threat that was made Tuesday.

According to Pottsville Police Chief Richard Wojciechowsky, on Tuesday afternoon the Pottsville Bureau of Police were contacted by the Pottsville Area High School Administration and advised that a handwritten threat had been discovered on a bathroom stall in the high school.

The short printed message stated “3-2-1” and that a “Boom!!” would occur on October 23, 2019.

The Pottsville Police worked along side the PA State Police and the school administration to investigate.

Wojciechowsky, said as a matter of utmost caution the Pottsville Area High School was completely searched and cleared by K-9 units from the PA State Police and Capital Police, along with officers from the Pottsville Bureau of Police and the investigation into the origin of the writing is continuing.

The facility and grounds will be secured for the duration of the evening until class time tomorrow and the PASD administration plans to enact additional safety protocols for the immediate future that will be announced by school officials shortly.
