Coal Stoker to Blame for Shenandoah Fire Call Saturday Afternoon

The starting of a coal stoker was to blame for a fire call on Main Street in Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.



Just after noon Saturday, emergency personnel were called to a report of smoke in a structure at 38 South Main Street, Shenandoah, the Lightning Rent to Own.

The caller to communications that they could smell something burning and there was smoke in the business on the main floor.

Personnel from Shenandoah and Mahanoy City responded and investigated and found that a neighbor had started their coal stoker, which caused the smell and smoke.

Units cleared the scene within a half hour of being called.
